Along the Snowman Trek

A few years back, I had the rare opportunity to join fellow guides on the Snowman Trek, touted as one of the hardest treks in the world.

The trek is truly spectacular, one that tests the limits of human endurance while offering a deeper insight into the remarkable beauty of the Himalayas and communities that live in some of the remotest and highest altitudes in the world.

The Snowman Trek takes you through the last surviving Himalayan glaciers, which are depleting at a rapid pace due to global warming.

Walking on these glaciers is therefore both intimidating as well as awe-inspiring. The melting glaciers are a reminder of the fragility of our natural environment and the looming dangers posed by global climate change.

Two trekkers climb the oxygen sparse Gangjula Glacier (5,125m), a step at a time.
